$1M lifeline for NSW dairy farmers

In the river valleys of northern New South Wales, dairy farmers are facing some of the toughest conditions in recent memory. Years of compounding challenges – natural disasters, rising input costs and emotional strain – have left many families struggling to keep their farms and livelihoods afloat.

In response, a compassionate partnership has emerged between Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS), the Perich Group, Moxey Group and Dairy Australia. Together, they are providing vital financial support to dairy farmers doing it tough.

This initiative is not just about dollars – it’s about dignity, resilience and community. It’s about recognising the essential role our dairy farmers play in feeding the nation and sustaining rural Australia.

Our dairy farmers are doing it tough, especially after the recent floods in northern NSW,” said Mahir Momand, CEO of RAWCS. “This partnership is about standing with them, recognising their resilience and helping them carry on.”

The Perich and Moxey families, both with deep roots in the dairy industry, have stepped forward with generosity and empathy, offering not just an initial funding of $1.1 million but a heartfelt solidarity.

“We can’t imagine the pressures those farmers are under,” said Ron Perich. “Our family is committed to supporting the hardest-hit farms as they work to recover from these devastating floods.”

David Nation, CEO of Dairy Australia, emphasised the power of collective action.
