What…

The world is changing – and so is Rotary!

As Rotarians, we know that meaningful change doesn’t happen overnight. It takes vision, commitment and community. That’s why the 2026 Zone 8 Conference is focused on building a legacy that lasts.

The 20206 theme – Future in Focus: People, Planet, Peace – places our shared future at the heart of everything we do. It calls us to step up and lead in three interconnected areas: people, planet and peace.

Whether you’re a club leader, a project champion or a passionate community member, this is your opportunity to join fellow Rotarians from across Australia, New Zealand, the Pacific Islands and beyond, as we explore what it truly means to be future focused.

A vision for the future

Underpinning the 2026 Institute is a bold vision: Rotary as a force for good in an uncertain world.

From climate action and environmental stewardship to conflict resolution and long-term community resilience, this event will challenge us to think bigger, act bolder and collaborate more deeply.

Key messages to expect

  • Sustainability and climate action
  • Peace and conflict resolution
  • Long-term thinking in Rotary strategy

Why you should be there

Because the future needs Rotary – and Rotary needs you.

This is not just another conference. It’s a chance to reimagine our impact and renew our purpose as Rotarians. It’s an invitation to connect, reflect and grow — both as individuals and as a movement.

Whether you’re a long-time leader or new to Rotary, the 2026 Zone Institute will offer practical insights, powerful connections and a shared sense of direction.

Where…

The Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, colloquially referred to as Jeff’s Shed, is a group of three adjacent buildings next to the Yarra River in South Wharf, an inner-city suburb of Melbourne, Victoria. The iconic venue is an outlet for Melbourne’s signature culture, hosting dynamic exhibitions, conferences, galas and concerts.

What’s Happening in 2026?

In 2026, the Zone Conference will be the premier face-to-face event of the year, celebrating the Rotary South Pacific region. Hosted at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre, with accommodation at the nearby Novotel, this week-long event offers something for everyone.

  • 27-29 October: The pre-conference learning focuses on a leadership development stream for incoming district governors and senior leaders led by Past District Governor Ingrid Waugh – a unique opportunity to deepen strategic insight and build strong cross-district networks. Eighty participants will come together to develop the mindset and tools needed to lead Rotary into the next chapter.
  • 30 October – 1 November: The weekend conference opens to all Rotarians and guests, with an expected 300-plus attendees joining from across our region and internationally. This is where the energy builds – where ideas are shared, partnerships are formed and inspiration is ignited. The conference is convened by Rotary International Director Jennifer Scott AM and chaired by Past District Governor Tony Monley OAM.

Expect a dynamic mix of keynote speakers, breakout sessions and panel conversations focused on our seven Areas of Focus – especially the environment, peacebuilding and sustainable community development.
