Hosted by the Rotary Club of Wollundry, NSW, with support from other Rotary clubs and community organisations such as the CWA, rural fire brigades and enthusiastic locals in the community, the annual Gears + Beers Festival combines a community cycle challenge with a craft beer festival at the end.
The focus is on community participation; mums, dads, children, current cycle enthusiasts, beginners and business challenge participants. The craft beer festival has been created to meet the growing appreciation for the range of handcrafted beers and ciders produced in the region.
The combination of the cycle challenge, the craft beer festival, outstanding locally roasted coffee and great local food, along with first-class musical entertainment, makes for an epic weekend.
Ride distances start with a cruisy 10km spin through a strawberry farm (ice cream in hand) up to the all-day ‘Dirty 130’, which contains four challenging dirt sectors. Which every challenge you choose, every ride at Gears + Beers rolls back into the craft beer festival. Or skip the challenge altogether and head straight to the brews!
All event staff are volunteers and 100 per cent of proceeds go to local charities. Since 2016, riders and sponsors have helped distribute $1,309,014 to local causes.

Punchy Saturday. Gravel bikes and MTBs are the weapon of choice. This one’s a punchy mixed-terrain ride that kicks the weekend into gear early. Expect river trails, gravel, bike paths, steep pinches and enough sting in the legs to earn your first festival beer before rider rego even opens.
The salty dog! It’ll satisfy your gravel cravings and get you back to the beer festival with a little less pain than the dirty 130.
Fast rolling country roads through classic Riverina farming country. Perfect for riders who prefer smooth tarmac, long turns on the front and a well-earned bakery stop before rolling back into the festival with the legs nicely emptied.
The big dog! Long gravel roads, private farm access, chunky sectors and the kind of tired legs that make the finish line beer taste legendary. Built for riders who think a good day out should leave a little dust in the soul.
