Hosted by Gold Coast Rotary, the Ramble can best be described as a car rally on foot, with teams of costumed participants exploring the parks, malls and streets of Main Beach, following clues to locate 20 to 30 checkpoints over two hours.
At each checkpoint, the teams use an App to download a challenge about the immediate area – this could relate to the heritage, the natural environment, street art or current infrastructure. The App will include team photos and videos this year. The Ramble is an outdoor event open to all levels of fitness – family and wheelchair friendly.
Random draw and best costume prizes reward participation. For the more competitive, completion of all checkpoint challenges in two hours involves strategy and teamwork. For families with younger children, there will be fun activities at many checkpoints, and you do not have to complete every checkpoint to enjoy yourself and win prizes. Start planning now to get your team together, plan your costumes and get ready for Gold Coast’s ‘Amazing Race’.
While other suburbs snatch their names from traditional Aboriginal place names or English seaside villages, Main Beach is far more literal. Situated at the northern end of the Gold Coast, Main Beach was so named as it was the main surf beach to the town of Southport. But while its name may be obvious, its hidden gems are far more exciting – this is one of the Coast’s areas that celebrates something old and something new in style.
The Ramble is an opportunity to support the survivors of domestic violence.
Your team is encouraged to support victims of domestic violence through the Rabmble’s nominated charity, Rizeup, by seeking sponsorship donations. Each donation will earn additional event points – every $10 donation gains the team an additional point up to a maximum of 100 points ($1,000 team sponsorship). Team members can get their friends and work colleagues to sponsor their team.
Gold Coast Rotary has raised more than $30,000 over the past four years, with the winning teams gaining maximum charity points.
