Free Ambulance Charitable Trust
The Free Ambulance Charitable Trust was established by Rotary clubs in the greater Wellington area. The purpose of the Trust is to raise funds for Wellington Free Ambulance and assist with the purchase of capital items. One of the founders of Wellington Free Ambulance was Sir Charles Norwood, who was an early Rotary pioneer in Wellington.
Wellington Free Ambulance provides the only free ambulance service in New Zealand. Paramedics respond to emergencies 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days of a year. They provide invaluable advice and offer lifesaving help nearly 60,000 times a year.

Today, the ambulance service needs support from throughout the community to undertake the tremendous work it does. Several clubs throughout District 9940 have supported Wellington Free Ambulance for many years, usually through donations to assist with ongoing operating costs.
In 2016, funds were raised to fund the fit out of equipment for a new ambulance. Following this fit out, another fundraising effort provided equipment for 15 front line ambulances, each with a mobile ultrasound, to further improve the level of service provided.
