Gold Coast Interactor heads up Junior Council

Gold Coast Interactor Narii Hamill Salmon, 16, has been sworn in as the City of the Gold Coast’s 2020 Junior Mayor.
A member of Miami High Interact Club for the past two years, Narii said he was honoured to be elected to the role and looked forward to a year of fresh opportunities to connect with the community and like-minded peers.
“Overall, I’d like to focus on young people and how we can make our voices heard,” Narii said. “Specifically, I’m very focused on the environment and ensuring we stand up for our future.”
Heading up a Junior Council of 120 students, Narii said Interact helped prepare him for this new role by giving him a platform to play an active role within the community through different volunteer opportunities.
“Serving as president of Miami Interact Club has enhanced my communication, teamwork and leadership skills,” Narii said. “And as the Junior Council aims to find ways to link with volunteer organisations, it will provide an opportunity to show our city council and young people just how much of an important role Interact, Rotaract and Rotary play in volunteering on the Gold Coast.”
