Out of the Shadows
In September 2023, Rotary Tasmania joined forces with Lifeline Tasmania to host the Out of the Shadows walk in Hobart ahead of World Suicide Prevention Day.
Hundreds of Tasmanians converged on Parliament Lawns at 6am in a show of solidarity for families who have lost loved ones to suicide.
Lifeline Tasmania CEO Debbie Evans said the free annual event is an important way for the community to show their support.
“Out of the Shadows is a safe space for people who have lost loved ones to suicide to reflect and remember,” she said. “It is also a visual reminder that no matter how you may feel, you are not alone.”
Participants were well fed, with breakfast supplied by Rotary and Davey Street Garage.
