Vale Sir Clem Renouf
Rotarians around the world were saddened by the news of the passing of Sir Clem Renouf at his home at Arcare, Hope Island, Qld, on June 11.
Acclaimed as Australia’s second Rotary International president, Clem is recognised as the inspiration behind Rotary’s historic PolioPlus campaign, commencing with the pilot program in the Philippines in 1979.
RI president in 1978-79, Clem was also recognised as the father of Rotary’s game-changing Health, Hunger and Humanity (3-H) program during his presidency. This program revolutionised The Rotary Foundation and opened the way for massive, life-changing projects around the world.
Clement William Bailey Renouf was predeceased by his first wife June and survived by second wife Firth, son Noel, daughter Judy, and their families.
His funeral was held in the Gregson and Weight Chapel in Buderim, Qld, on June 23. Attendance was restricted by COVID-19 regulations and several wonderful written tributes were presented to the gathering.
