The Rotary Club of Lane Cove, NSW, is proud to announce a significant and inspiring act of generosity by long-standing member Jim Holmes. Jim, together with his late wife Jean, has donated AU$100,000 to The Rotary Foundation, establishing the Jim & Jean Holmes Named Endowment Fund.
This substantial gift reflects Jim’s deep commitment to Rotary’s mission of advancing world understanding, goodwill and peace through humanitarian service. The endowment will provide annual funding in perpetuity to support vital Rotary programs around the globe, including initiatives in health, education, clean water and peacebuilding.
Jim and Jean’s legacy will now live on through this named endowment, ensuring their values and dedication to service continue to make a lasting impact. The income generated from this fund will contribute to projects that align with The Rotary Foundation’s Areas of Focus, helping communities in need both now and for generations to come.
Jim has been a devoted Rotarian for 57 years, contributing his time, leadership and resources to numerous local and international projects. His generous endowment is a reflection of a life lived in service and partnership, with Jean by his side, dedicated to making a difference.
Rotary has been a significant part of our lives and the friendship and ability to work and better people’s lives has provided us with great satisfaction,” Jim said. “It’s time to acknowledge that and give back so others can continue this work.”
Lindsay May OAM, Rotary Foundation Australia director and Rotary Lane Cove member, praised Jim’s contribution.
“Jim’s donation, with the support of his family, exemplifies the spirit of Rotary and sets a powerful example for us all,” Lindsay said. “The Jim & Jean Holmes Endowment Fund will continue to do good in the world in their name forever.”
The Rotary Club of Lane Cove and the wider Rotary community extend heartfelt gratitude to Jim and his extensive family for his remarkable contribution and enduring commitment to Service Above Self.
