Friendship, fellowship and global impact

– See you in Taipei 2026!

From inspiring speakers to the joy of global friendships and cultural discovery, longtime convention-goer Jennifer Scott shares why the Rotary International Convention is a must-do experience, and why Taipei should be on your calendar in 2026.

WORDS Jennifer Scott AM. RI Director 2025-27.

Ian and I have attended 15 Rotary International conventions over the past 20 years, including the two virtual conventions held during COVID. Each convention is a unique experience.

Initially, I thought the key draw-card at a convention was the speakers, however, in recent years I’ve realised I keep returning to meet up with friends again from around the world. I love exploring the House of Friendship, learning about projects and enjoying the various fellowships displays.

I also love exploring the destination. Over the years, I have extended my time after the convention to explore beyond the host city. After the Bangkok convention we visited Cambodia and fell in love with the project known as Sustainable Cambodia, which we have continued to support and volunteer with since 2012. We loved spending time enjoying the various jazz bands in New Orleans.

Before the Lisbon convention we spent a month exploring Spain and Portugal. After the Hamburg convention we visited Iceland and Scotland. After Calgary we visited Glacier National Park and Yellowstone National Park with the International Fellowship of Flying Rotarians. Perhaps add a week or two to your schedule, if you are able, to explore beyond the city.

So, I warmly invite you to join us at the 2026 Rotary International Convention in Taipei, 13-17 June 2026 – mark your calendar right now! RI Conventions are an opportunity like no other for Rotarians who believe in service, fellowship and global impact. More than 30,000 Rotary members from more than 120 countries will be in Taipei in June.

What you’ll gain
  • Connect & Learn – During general sessions, breakout workshops and signature events you’ll have the chance to hear from inspiring leaders, share stories from your clubs, discover new ideas to bring back home and make lasting friendships that span the world.
  • Service in Action – The Convention won’t just talk about change – you’ll see Rotary’s impact up close through humanitarian projects from around the world. At no cost, you can showcase your own club projects if you apply for a booth.
