Rotary South Pacific’s membership strategy
Words PDG David Barton. Membership Director. Rotary South Pacific.
The membership team at Rotary South Pacific has developed a strategy for membership growth and retention based on moving away from working in silos and working towards stronger collaboration between districts, Membership Champions, Rotary Community Leaders, all Rotary South Pacific portfolios and Rotary International staff.
We have developed a team of dedicated portfolio leads with responsibility for the following areas:
- New member development – PDG Wayne Milnes
- New club startup – DGE Raj Chand
- Alternative clubs – PP Kero O’Shea
- Strategic club planning – PDG Nick Courtney
- Alumni engagement – PDG David Mayne
- Clubs that thrive – PP David Kenny
This dedicated team will offer support and assistance as and when requested in an effort to:
- Increase annual membership growth by net two per cent
- Reduce annual resignations by 15 per cent
- Start 38 new clubs by encouraging alternative club models
- Attract 50 alumni back into Rotary
- Increase collaboration across districts and regions
- Provide information on resigned members analysing the reasons for leaving and inviting them back where appropriate into clubs that may suit them better
- Work to eliminate the current ‘desperate and dateless’ mindset and encourage the development of a grand consensus about how to grow Rotary South Pacific by way of step-change, aiming to achieve exponential growth, rather than a gradual increase
- Address the impacts of an ageing membership, including the perception that older members offer limited value.
This dedicated team is available and supported by other great membership specialists across Rotary South Pacific. All you need to do is contact any of the team or Membership Director PDG David Barton via membership@rotarysouthpacific.org and your enquiry will be answered and assistance given.
